We recently asked for members of the public to get in touch with their suggestions as to what you’d like us to concentrate our fundraising efforts on and the response was incredible. We’d like to thank everyone who got in touch for their incredible ideas, if we could, we would have loved to have taken on all of the projects and we’ve filed them away safely for future consideration.
All ideas were collected and given to an independent panel of volunteers who marked the suggestions against feasibility, costs and maintenance requirements to name but a few of the categories considered.
The results from the independent panel were very close and so the committee decided to take on not one, but two of the projects!
The primary project that we’ll concentrate on is the Riverside project. We hope to light the river walk so the community can utilise it all year round.
The secondary project is the Thurso Walk of Fame project. Familiar faces and names that make up many of our town tales will be celebrated throughout the town on plaques. Eventually, these will form a walk around town that locals and visitors to the area can enjoy and learn about some of our local people.
The committee have made a significant commitment to carry out these projects and look forward to the challenge ahead.
You can support us in many ways, by giving our facebook page a ‘like’, by coming along to one of our events listed on the what’s on page, or by donating either your time or by making a financial donation. If you’d like to get involved, TTIA host committee meetings on the first Tuesday of the month at 7pm in The Holborn Hotel and we love to welcome new faces. You do not need to join our committee to get involved, you can sign up as a volunteer and help out as and when you can!
We’ll use this page to keep you all up to date on our targets and progress along the journey so keep checking back for updates!
